Health department seeks $143,000 contract to replace food-program database; sheriff reports Longview interlocal for SRO grant

Gina James of Health and Human Services described a planned upgrade of the county's food-program database. James said the department currently uses a 2005 Access database that is no longer supported and frequently crashes. The recommended contract with GovPath is for up to $143,000 with a $10,000 contingency to handle modest overages; James said the county received a $200,000 public-health infrastructure grant that can pay for the work and some staff training. GovPath was expected to complete integration within a few months; the contract term was set through the end of December for schedule flexibility.

Separately, the sheriff told the board an interlocal agreement with the city of Longview would let Longview apply for and receive federal funds intended for a school-resource-officer program; the county would waive any claim to the $10,793 grant so Longview can administer the program.
