The Token Municipal Golf Authority voted to buy a greens groomer from Precision USA for $5,136 after staff described the equipment as a labor-saving tool that improves putting surfaces.
Sean, the superintendent, told trustees the groomer is "basically a brush that you use for your greens" and said it can be hooked to a golf cart and operated by one person, reducing repeated manual dragging. He said the machine pulls sand into the turf and helps lift grass blades so the putting surface cuts and rolls more evenly.
Trustees raised questions about vendor experience and cost; Sean said he had reviewed videos and that the vendor had recently supplied units to other courses. The item was moved, seconded and approved by roll call; the transcript records "Mr. Burridge. Aye. Ms. Thomas. Aye. Mr. Caffey. Aye." The motion carried.
The board recorded no amendment to the purchase. The superintendent said the authority expects the groomer to reduce wear and staff time and to make more frequent light sanding of greens feasible. The authority did not specify a delivery date in the meeting minutes.
Next steps: Purchasing staff will issue the purchase order to Precision USA and arrange delivery and training as available.
