White Oak on April 20 formally launched a multi‑municipal comprehensive‑planning effort with South Fayette Township, and the consultant leading the work urged residents and businesses to take an online community survey.
Carolyn Jaggel, director of planning and policy with Environmental Planning and Design, told council the effort begins with a community survey available online and in limited paper copies. She said the process will include public meetings, outreach events and a zoning ordinance update, and is expected to run through mid‑2027.
Jaggel said the survey is the "first step" in capturing residents’ ideas about opportunities and concerns, and that the plan will look ahead to the next decade. She confirmed the plan and ordinance update will include required public meetings as part of the MAP grant and municipal planning code and said project materials will be posted on a project website linked from the borough site.
Council members asked about public components and regular updates; Jaggel said there will be a series of public meetings and opportunities for residents and businesses to review progress. Borough staff will post materials and accept questions online and direct paper surveys to staff for data entry.
Next steps: the steering committee meets monthly (next meeting announced for May 13) and staff will return with zoning‑update materials later in the process.
