Mayberry Park hosted its first Little League games, with Sterling High School baseball captain John Whiteside and city council members Dorothy Dow and Lillian Fleming throwing out the first pitch, Haley Brown reported. Youth basketball players also concluded their seasons with end-of-season games.
Brown said the Greenville Zoo’s African painted dogs, Bailey and Parker, received dental procedures performed by experts at Upstate Vet Emergency and Specialty Care.
Sum Bar’s annual Lunar New Year Festival celebrated the Year of the Fire Horse with lion dances, food and craft vendors, and the city noted the rarity of the 60-year cycle. The bulletin also highlighted that USA Today named Greenville a top-50 minor league baseball town and said Fluor Field has supported more than $300 million in new business sales within a half-mile of the stadium since opening in 2006.
Finally, the city noted that fan-favorite Poppies Tacos opened a new concept, Poppies Kitchen, expanding menu and outdoor seating near Fluor Field.
