The Mineral Point Unified School District board voted to sign a memorandum of understanding to participate in an Iowa County Sources of Strength consortium that will provide countywide peer and adult leader training, curriculum materials and community partner connections.
Administration presented the MOU and said the agreement will give the district access to a county‑level trainer and related resources—services the district has been providing locally—while reducing the district’s per‑district training costs. Administration identified Danny Rob (listed in the MOU as the district representative) as the board’s contact and said the MOU formalizes coordination with other districts and community organizations.
Trustees asked clarifying questions about whether the MOU commits additional district funds; administration said the agreement is intended to share resources and not to increase district expenditures. The board approved the MOU by voice/roll call vote.
Administrators said the MOU’s requested areas of support (training, materials, grant‑funding assistance and partner connections) largely mirror work the district already performs and will expand resource access through county coordination. The approval does not change classroom programming immediately; instead, staff will integrate the county trainer into existing professional development and student‑peer leader activities.
The motion passed; administration will proceed with the county partnership and coordinate next steps with the district’s designated representative.
