Board approves HME reading/ELA curriculum purchase after cost reduction

Board members approved the purchase of a multi-year HME reading and ELA curriculum package that staff said will be paid from the FY27 budget.

During discussion, staff said the initial quote was approximately $355,000 but that they had negotiated or revised it down to about $317,000. Board members queried whether materials for multiple years are shipped up front and whether storage is required; staff confirmed the purchase covers the current year’s materials and that the budget includes the amounts to be approved.

A motion to approve the curriculum package passed by voice vote.
