The Mills County Board approved the purchase of a 2026 Dodge Durango for the sheriff's office after the sheriff’s representative presented bid, trade-in and budget details.
The presenter explained that the bid price was reduced by a trade-in on a 2020 Durango and that the county’s net cost would be about $30,769. "The actual cost to Mills County would be $30,769," the presenter said while summarizing trade-in credits and available vehicle-line funds.
Board members discussed timing — some members recommended waiting until the next fiscal year because only six weeks remained in the budget year — but the sheriff’s representative said projections show sufficient funds in the general basic vehicle account and outlined the fleet’s mileage and maintenance situation.
A motion to approve the purchase was made and seconded; the board approved the purchase by voice vote. Staff said the purchase will be paid from the vehicle account and that they will update projections next month.
