Bossier Parish School Board approves grant-funded attendance specialist, updates CNP job description and affirms disciplinary decision

The Bossier Parish School Board on April 16 approved a series of administrative and operational items, including a grant-funded attendance specialist position, an updated child nutrition supervisor job description, and extended facility usage agreements for community groups.

Assistant Superintendent Andrea Spinney presented a new job description for an attendance specialist, saying the position “will be funded through grant monies” and is connected to “the LDOE's recent initiative for attendance awareness.” The board voted to approve the new, grant-funded position after a motion by board member Eric Falting, seconded by Mr. Jordan; members cast voice votes and were asked to register their votes electronically.

Spinney also presented an amended job description for the Child Nutrition Program supervisor to reflect updated responsibilities and three certification pathways after the district's incumbent resigned; the board approved the update on a motion by Mrs. Smith, seconded by Mr. Bertrand.

Administrative committee chair Glenn Bullard reported the committee met and recommended that the board affirm a student disciplinary decision that had been considered in executive session. Bullard noted the matter had been handled in executive session; the full board voted to carry the committee's recommendation. No disciplinary details were disclosed in open session.

The board's Building and Grounds Committee recommended and the full board approved two extended facility usage agreements: an agreement with Red River Football Club for use of the Airline High School stadium and one with Cindy's School of Dance for use of the Airline High School auditorium. Routine trip requests presented to the board were also approved.

Chief Financial Officer Nisha Bamberg presented January 2026 financial statements for review and said the finance committee will have a more in-depth review next month. Superintendent Rowland closed the meeting with calendar announcements: a Bossier Schools Job and Resource Fair at the Bossier Civic Center next Tuesday (4:00–6:00 p.m.), a finance committee meeting May 7, and the district graduation schedule May 15–16. Board members were reminded to file personal financial disclosures with the Louisiana Ethics Department by May 15.

The meeting adjourned following the routine business votes.
