Palm Beach County showcases public-art projects including 'Skyroom' at Convention Center

Palm Beach County’s public-art program was highlighted during a presentation in the meeting record, featuring installations meant to enhance public spaces and the Convention Center.

Elena Toby, introducing the segment, said, "Welcome to the Art of Making Place. I'm Elena Toby, Palm Beach County's art and public places administrator," and described a range of public-art projects that integrate local environment and community. The presentation described Skyroom, an installation by artist Susan Nardulli at the Palm Beach County Convention Center downtown West Palm Beach, which uses sculptural screens and hedge walls to frame sunlight and cast rhythmic color and shadow across plaza surfaces. The segment also described a work by Gary L. Moore designed with elements that respond to hurricane force winds and movement.

The presentation portrayed the works as part of the county’s effort to connect artists with capital construction projects, public spaces, buildings and streetscapes so residents and visitors can experience art integrated into daily life.
