Board approves Academic and Career Planning plan after presentation showing $2.48M in deferred cost savings

The Prescott School District board approved the district's Academic and Career Planning (ACP) report during its April 14 meeting after a data-driven presentation by Mr. Cosmosi. The presentation highlighted growth in youth apprenticeship participation (from three to 30 students in four years), expanded transcripted credits through CVTC, Start College Now and UW-River Falls dual-enrollment, and AP credit savings.

Administration presented eight years of data showing approximately $1.1 million saved via CVTC transcripted credit, more than $1 million from AP credit accumulation, $315,000 through WRF early-college credit, and about $18,000 via Start College Now credits — combining to a reported $2.48 million in cumulative deferred college costs saved for Prescott families.

Trustees asked how the district is closing gaps in access and discussed staff certification limits that affect course availability (for example the need for master's credits or certification to sustain certain transcripted offerings). The district said it is working with CBTC and CISA 11 to recertify teachers where possible and to build partnerships to sustain and expand offerings.

The board approved the plan and encouraged the administration to continue building family engagement and regional partnerships; administration noted CISA 11 reviewed the plan and called it an exemplar and offered to share it with DPI if the board approves that outreach.
