Board approves laptops and awards nearly $989,000 contract for portable classrooms at Early College High School

The board approved a quote to buy 450 Dell 3140 laptops to support a one‑to‑one student device rollout at Early College High School and the high‑school refresh. The quoted total was presented as approximately $284,000 with a warranty cost noted as $633.20 per unit. Trustees asked procurement staff to ensure parts availability and serviceability for the chosen model.

Separately, staff recommended and the board approved contracting ESA Construction Inc. to move two portables, update interiors, install HVAC and fire alarms, and carry out site work including pavement relocation to accommodate the auxiliary gym — a project staff described as complex and necessary to provide classroom space. The contract award amount was $988,942.77.

Both items passed by roll call vote. Staff will proceed with procurement paperwork and schedule project mobilization and device delivery timing.
