Committee approves SCR 99 SD1 to convene working group to create arts nonprofit

The Culture and the Arts Committee voted to pass SCR 99 SD1, which would convene a working group to establish a nonprofit recognized by the state to support arts and culture engagement.

Georgia Skinner, introduced as Creative Industries for DBEDT, said, "We support this measure and are available to help assist in any way should it pass." The State Foundation on Culture and the Arts had submitted testimony and comments but was not present in person; the Hawaii Film Festival and the Hawaii International Film Festival were listed among supporting organizations.

During roll call, a reservation was recorded for Representative Loeden; despite that reservation the committee adopted the chair's recommendation to pass the resolution "as is."
