The Norfolk County Commission on April 15 unanimously approved a slate of routine personnel actions and fiscal items, including rehiring seasonal staff, accepting trial balances and approving three payroll and expense warrants.
The meeting opened with the chair reading state guidance on remote participation, noting that “on March 28th, 2025, Governor Healey signed into law House Bill 62, an act relative to extending certain COVID-19 measures adopted during the state of emergency, which includes a 2-year extension of the option for public bodies to hold remote meetings by suspending certain provisions of the open meeting law,” effective through June 30, 2027.
Votes at a glance: the commission moved and adopted by roll call the postponement of the April 8 meeting minutes; rehired five seasonal golf associates at the Wollaston recreational facility (Robert J. Robinson, Kelly O’Toole, Casey Kelly, Maya Donavan and Charles Vidoli) effective April 16, 2026; approved a contingent employment notice for Molly Hearson as a seasonal golf associate effective April 16, 2026; accepted the resignation of James Wilder, foreman plumber, effective April 10, 2026; approved a rehire for Curtis St. Onge as building maintenance foreman for Norfolk County Agricultural High School and continued employment for Naomi Blaney in the student garden role.
On fiscal matters the commission approved county payroll warrant 26-41 for $144,944.40, a school payroll subsection for $400,169.27, and county expense warrant 40326 for $406,210.29. The board also accepted the trial balances for January, February and March 2026.
Most motions passed by unanimous roll call. The commission recessed into executive session early in the meeting to address a previously noted item, later returning to open session to complete regular business and then again moving into executive session before adjourning. The chair declared the meeting adjourned at 2:09 p.m.
