Staff member says Mohansec and Brookside additions progressing; fields delayed by snow

A staff member reported that construction on additions at Mohansec and Brookside is progressing and that the buildings are largely enclosed, with much of the rough plumbing and electrical work completed. He said the district "anticipates having the building turned over to us in midsummer — July or early August," allowing full access well before the first day of school in September.

The staff member said site work on the middle- and high-school athletic fields is nearing completion and described the field build-up: an underlayment, a shock pad, the turf and a rubber infill layer intended to prevent unintentional shifting. He noted the contractor identified "very soft peat moss" soil beneath portions of the field, which required remediation so the underlayment would rest on suitable soils.

He said both building projects and the field work remain within budget. "We are within budget," the staff member said, but added that the fields are "about a month behind on schedule," a delay he attributed to an unusually heavy winter — roughly 50 inches of snow — and to the soil conditions that required additional work. The staff member said the district now expects substantial completion of the baseball field in June, after which crews will begin work on the adjacent field to the north.
