State Senator urges Lawrence students to share input with school and education committees

A State Senator who said she grew up in Lawrence and attended the Frost School and Lawrence High School told students she was visiting to gather their input for the Lawrence School Committee and the Legislature’s Education Committee.

The speaker said she emigrated from the Dominican Republic at age six and later served on the Lawrence School Committee and as a Lawrence City Councilor before becoming a State Senator on the Education Committee. She framed the visit as an opportunity to hear directly from students and families about what matters to them.

"I'm here for you. I'm here for your parents, if you're guardians. We are here, the school committee is here to listen," the State Senator said, urging students and parents to raise concerns and suggestions. She added, "So, when you're ready, say something."

The senator combined the request for feedback with a motivational message, telling students, "I hope, I believe, I wish, I'm ready to change the world. Together we can." She closed by advising students to work hard, read and educate themselves, and to remember their community once they had achieved their goals.
