Plan Commission recommends multiple subdivision approvals, elects new chair and vice chair

The Joliet Plan Commission voted to recommend to City Council several subdivision actions that will appear on future city agendas and completed internal elections for leadership.

On planning items, the commission recommended approval of:
- P-2-26 and V-1-26 (preliminary plat of Rock Run Crossings Drive Phase Two and vacation of approximately 1.7 acres of Quartz Drive), presented for Cullinan Properties LLC; staff said the plat would enable a three-lot commercial subdivision and recommended forwarding to City Council.
- P-3-26 (preliminary plat of Shale Road Subdivision) by Cullinan Properties LLC, a 19.8-acre three-lot commercial subdivision; staff regarded a shift from a hotel to restaurants as a permissible minor PUD change and recommended approval.
- P-4-26 (Rock Run Crossings Lifestyle Center preliminary plat) for Colling & Joliet LLC, a two-lot mixed-use lifestyle center shown conceptually for restaurants and retail; staff supported forwarding the recommendation to City Council.

Each of those items passed the commission by roll call and will be scheduled on future City Council agendas for final action.

In governance business, commissioners elected Jason Cox as the new chair and Deb Rodakovich as vice chair by roll-call vote. Members recognized a departing long-serving commissioner (first name John) for decades of service and noted plans for a brief recognition after the meeting.

What’s next: The plan items will be presented to City Council for final action; the commission will receive subsequent preliminary plats and final plats as the developments proceed.
