Erie redevelopment authority authorizes contracts with two appraisal firms

The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Erie authorized the executive director to negotiate and execute on-call professional services agreements with Bill Schoff and Associates and Erie Appraisals for real-estate appraisal services.

Aaron explained the authority issued a request for qualifications and received two proposals: Bill Schoff and Associates (residential) and Erie Appraisals (commercial). "We received 2 proposals, one from Bill Schoff and Associates and one from Erie Appraisals," Aaron told the board. The resolution grants the executive director authority to enter contracts with both firms so the authority can obtain residential and commercial appraisal expertise as needed.

Aaron noted the authority has worked with both firms in the past and found their services satisfactory, and he described a prior courtroom instance where having both residential and commercial appraisers available, including fee schedules for testimony, was beneficial. The board approved the resolution by voice vote and the chair declared the motion carried.

Staff will finalize contracts and fee schedules and use the firms on an as-needed basis for appraisals and, when required, expert testimony in proceedings.
