Trustees reviewed a series of facilities and policy items at the May 11 work session.
Legal/engineering staff described a proposed partnership in which Wilson Bank and Trust would donate $15,000 toward ViewSonic classroom boards and carts at Wilson Elementary in exchange for a five‑year marketing agreement; staff said the arrangement is similar to the district’s existing sign partnerships. The board also reviewed a request to deny admission of a transfer student under discipline consistent with Policy 6.318; the director recommended denial as permitted by policy.
Engineering staff reviewed several construction and facilities requests cleared with no objections: a replacement gym floor with logo at Blackman Mary Wilson funded by Wilson Bank and Trust (estimate $7,200); a 10×16 storage building for Blackman Middle football funded by football funds (about $3,905.17); a proposal to name Segal High’s baseball field for coach Craig Reavis (noting a long coaching record, presented as 634 wins); and reassembly of a greenhouse at Oakland High (estimated $10,000) to be funded from school funds at no cost to the board.
Board members asked standard technical and security questions (for example, where storage buildings would be located and camera coverage) and had no substantive objections. The policy item includes a recommendation to suspend the board’s two‑reading rule and approve certain student transportation management language on a first‑and‑final reading so the district can give 30 days’ written notice to bus contractors; staff said the change adds insurance‑premium payment and leasing language for contractors.
