The board approved a resolution to continue participation in the federal Title I program and authorized Joe Risch to serve as the program coordinator.
Staff member (Speaker 6) said Title I brings in about $460,000 and funds much of the salaries for eight staff who focus on early-literacy work in elementary grades. "For us, Title I brings in a little bit over $460,000," staff said, and recommended the board continue participation and designate Joe Risch to oversee program requirements and paperwork. The motion to continue Title I and authorize Mr. Risch passed with aye votes.
The board also approved the personnel report, which included certified hires (for example, Tandice O'Neil joining JB Stevens), certified resignations and retirements, and extra-curricular (ECA) recommendations. Administration requested authority to hire as needed for the remainder of the school year and to return 2026–27 hires at the next scheduled meeting; the board granted that authorization.
Finally, the board approved two overnight field-trip requests: the high-school dance team to the National Dance Alliance event at Ball State University (July 7–10) and a junior-high cheerleading trip planned for Jan–Feb 2027 (fundraising required). Staff said coaches understand expectations for overnight and out-of-state travel ahead of final approvals.
