The Winslow Township technology committee reported on a recent audit and device issues at the April 15 meeting.
Committee minutes read in public said Aspire completed the vulnerability, governance and risk-assessment portion of a technology audit and advised the district was "in pretty good shape compared to most" districts the firm has worked with. The district has installed 100 new Wi-Fi access points and arranged a second internet connection to improve reliability for state testing, the minutes said.
Committee members also discussed device-management issues. According to the minutes as read, "Ms. Clements reported that as of right now, just in the middle school alone, we have 137 damaged Chromebooks, and these repairs are in excess of $13,000." The committee discussed rollout and repair policies, digital backpack notices for families and the idea of a district-wide calendar to centralize events for parents and HSAs.
No formal procurement or contract vote for further remediation costs occurred at the meeting; the committee noted that some of the critical items identified in the audit were already ordered and that final costs for remaining fixes had not yet been determined.
