The Metuchen Board of Education’s construction committee provided several updates on facility projects during the April 14 meeting.
Committee members reported that the high‑school parking lot is now fully available and the hallway connecting wings is in service. Work converting former board offices to a student cafeteria and usable student space is delayed due to contractor issues, but the district said it is taking steps to move the project forward.
At Moss School, the district expects to receive a temporary certificate of occupancy by the end of the week. The elevator is operational and an electrical inspection was scheduled; cafeteria flooring remains delayed but was not expected to limit near‑term use. Landscaping and parking at Moss are largely complete, with final fencing and punchlist items remaining. Edgar and Campbell schools are in punchlist phases with finishing tasks underway.
The committee also reminded the public about an upcoming fundraiser: the Harlem Wizards game at the high‑school gym (doors 6:00 p.m., game 7:00 p.m.), described as a PTO fundraiser and community event.
Board members encouraged public attendance at the events and said the district will continue to report construction milestones at future meetings.
