Glen Ridge council hears transit survey results; residents favor expanded weekend NJ Transit service

Glen Ridge — During committee reports on April 19, Councillor Zimtt highlighted results from two recent surveys: a borough-wide communications survey and a joint transit survey conducted with Montclair and Bloomfield. The transit survey asked residents about preferences for expanded weekday off-peak and weekend service on trains and buses.

Councillor Zimtt said residents "were especially enthusiastic about more frequent weekend service," and that borough staff are in discussions with local officials and New Jersey Transit (NJT) about next steps. Zimtt thanked volunteer Dan Casino and resident Rohi Tote for assisting with the survey analysis and consolidation of results across the three towns.

The report also included a community update on Freeman Gardens' 'rake and bake' volunteer event and noted positive turnout; Councillor Zimtt described the events as strong examples of community involvement that informed the outreach work.

What happens next: Borough officials said they will continue conversations with municipal partners and NJT and will update residents as options for additional weekend or off-peak service are developed.
