Winneshiek County board approves consent agenda, removes Calmar Courier and renews employee assistance program

The board voted unanimously to approve the consent agenda, which included minutes, county claims and the auditor’s quarterly report. Later in the meeting supervisors moved and seconded a measure to remove the Calmar Courier as an official county newspaper after receiving notice from the paper that it had ceased publication; the motion passed unanimously.

The board also reviewed utilization reports and voted to renew an employee assistance program that provides counseling and mental‑health benefits to county employees. The chair noted the program’s low per‑employee cost and the board approved the renewal by unanimous vote.

A discussion about revising the county's paid time off (PTO) policy was deferred to a future agenda, and members planned an in‑person tour of courthouse spaces before adjourning to assess how departments might be reallocated.
