Lambertville council backs DOT plan to replace Bridge Street and Corell Street bridges

The Lambertville City Council voted to adopt Resolution No. 80-2026, officially endorsing the New Jersey Department of Transportations plans to upgrade the Route 179 (Bridge Street) bridge and the Corell Street bridge over the canal.

Mayor Nell said she met with DOT staff and a lieutenant on March 11 to review the departments preliminary design plans and said municipal officials are required to adopt a supporting resolution as the project advances through design. City officials said construction remains likely several years away and that DOT indicated Bridge Street would be addressed before the Corell Street structure.

Council moved to adopt Resolution 80-2026 and the motion carried unanimously.

No construction schedule or bid dates were finalized at the meeting; officials said DOT is still working through initial design requirements and that more detailed timelines and public notices will follow as the project advances.
