A facilities committee report reviewed bond project phases at William O. Schaefer and the high school: Phase 2 weight-room work is expected to begin before July 4, with targeted substantial completion dates in late August 2026. The committee reported a proposed $1.5 million transfer to capital to be placed on the May vote to fund items that include a $45,000 awning at William O. Schaefer, interior doors at Tappan Zee High School, and potential boiler work.
The committee also reported two emergency bids for an unspecified project that varied greatly in price—one at $670,000 and another at $4.3 million—both above estimate. Board members agreed to continue work in committee and to bring recommended language back to the full board on media relations and facilities policies.
A consent agenda motion covering categories 8 through 12 passed by voice vote. The board also discussed concerns about the state electric bus mandate and said it may consider a resolution seeking an extension or additional advocacy because of infrastructure and feasibility questions raised by utility providers and Lower Hudson districts’ studies.
