Monterey County’s human resources department and Monterey Peninsula College said they will host a county-focused career fair on Thursday, April 23 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at MPC’s main campus in the Caroline Peach Garden outside the library.
"We have over 5,500 employees, 800 different job types," said Michael Rosales of the county Department of Human Resources, noting the fair will connect students and residents with county departments and internship opportunities. The event will include representatives from 14 departments and a passport program to encourage attendees to visit multiple booths.
Carla Bera, work-based learning coordinator at Monterey Peninsula College, said the college and county have partnered for events including internship week, mock interviews and the Dress for Success program. She said last year’s county fair drew about 150 attendees and that Dress for Success provided professional outfits to about 200 students.
The fair will offer free parking on MPC’s campus and opportunities to learn about applying for open county positions. Organizers encouraged attendees to visit the county HR website to see current job and internship listings.
