At the May 7 meeting the board read the rules of voter qualification and confirmed in-person voting will take place on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at Eldred Junior Senior High School, with polls closing at 8 p.m. The board said the proposed budget and related materials will be available for review no later than May 5, 2026, and thereafter at district buildings and the district office.
The hearing included text of three ballot propositions to appear on the May 19 ballot. Proposition 2 would authorize the district to levy $52,000 annually for the 2026–27 fiscal year to pay over such monies to the board of trustees of the Sunshine Hall Free Library. Proposition 3 would seek authorization (not to exceed $2,500,000) to purchase and finance school buses. The board also announced that voters may elect two members to the board of education: one four-year term beginning July 1, 2026, and one two-year term running through June 30, 2028.
Chair (Speaker 1) reminded voters of qualifications to vote (U.S. citizenship, age 18 or older, district residency of 30 days or more preceding the vote) and described procedures for custodial inspectors and hand-count verification of results.
The board solicited public comment; none was offered. After business, the board voted to go into executive session on a legal matter and did not return to public business at the meeting’s end.
