Carl Junction’s Board of Aldermen adopted the city’s 2027 fiscal-year budget and approved a package of ordinances during its April 7 meeting, voting unanimously on the measures after standard readings and brief discussion.
The council approved the fiscal 2027 budget as ordinance 2607 by roll call (recorded as 8–0). The budget vote followed the council’s brief second reading and the statement that members had received a copy of the budget in advance.
Among the ordinances adopted were an agreement with the Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission for sidewalk and trail-crossing ADA improvements (project JSR0337), adopted as ordinance 2602 after first, second and final readings and a roll-call vote recorded 8–0. City staff said the project is for sidewalk repairs and ADA upgrades at the trail crossing on Roney Street.
Council also adopted an ordinance to amend Title 7 (Utilities), chapter 705, to increase water connection and installation fees to reflect current city costs; that ordinance passed as 2603 (roll call 8–0). Officials said the change simply adjusts the municipal charge to match what the city pays to install meters.
The Board approved change order number three to the Elements Construction Concepts contract for Westbriar Brook Lane stormwater improvements, adding side‑channel work between Hedge Drive and the main channel at an added cost of $8,965 (bringing the contract total to $330,803). The change order was described by staff as funded from ARPA and was adopted as ordinance 2604 (roll call 8–0).
After hearing the Planning & Zoning recommendation, aldermen approved final plat acceptance for Fox Briar number seven (ordinance 2605) and completed a more expansive annexation of roadway right‑of‑way (Ivy Road, Grimes Street and County Road 284) to align city limits for a proposed Deerfield subdivision; the annexation resolution passed as ordinance 2606 (each by roll call 8–0).
The council also passed the annual salary ordinance (effective May 1, 2026) as ordinance 2608, which includes a personnel-salary adjustment for the city treasurer and reflects approximately 2.5% across‑the‑board raises the budget contains. That measure passed by roll call 8–0.

The meeting closed after routine reports and a motion to adjourn. The clerk recorded the roll-call tallies and ordinance numbers in the meeting minutes.
