The Brookfield Selectmen voted April 7 to accept the Heritage Commission's recommendations to reappoint Harriet Wilson, add Ed Gothier as a core member and appoint Terry Gothier and Michelle Roth as alternate members, officials said.
The appointments were introduced by Heritage Commission chair Bob Serbasic, who explained the commission adjusted term lengths so several terms align in 2029 and that Michelle Roth will initially serve a one‑year alternate term through 2027. "At our March 18 meeting the commission voted and approved four new members," Serbasic said, and then moved the recommendation; the board seconded and approved the motion by roll call.
The heritage workgroup also asked the selectmen to request formal permission from the New Hampshire Historical Society to use an 'every‑name' index compiled by volunteers. The group said the index contains far more name references than the current in‑book index and would improve genealogical research. The board instructed staff to draft a letter seeking permission from the Historical Society and confirmed the town holds the published history copy for which the town retains custodial rights.
Members of the commission also requested permission for volunteers to "spruce up" flower beds around the townhouse and the flagpole. Selectmen said volunteers could proceed but asked that participants complete a short volunteer form to satisfy the town's insurance company and to allow the town to maintain a volunteer roster.
The board asked staff to return the drafted permission letter and a proposed volunteer form at a future meeting for final approval. No vote was required for the volunteer planting beyond agreement to provide and complete the form.
The selectmen adjourned the heritage‑related agenda items after confirming the appointments would be recorded in the minutes and the permission letter would be routed for action.
