Plan Commission approves Gallas maintenance building on US 30, 7-0

The Schererville Plan Commission on April 6 approved secondary review of a development plan for a maintenance building at 350–370 E. U.S. Route 30 submitted by petitioner Brian Gallas. The motion carried by roll-call vote, 7-0.

Brian Gallas, the petitioner, told commissioners he had implemented the changes requested during the study session: “I added all the things that you had said. I added the ballards and moved the plants off the west side and added them to the south side,” he said. Commissioners asked no further questions, and staff raised no objections.

Commissioner Bill Jarvis moved to approve the plan “pursuant to all state, local, federal regulations and any fees to the town shall be kept current.” The motion was seconded and passed on a recorded vote with Jarvis, Miles Long, Tom Curus, Chris Rack, Bob Kan, Gary Emig and Tom Anderson voting yes.

The approval was recorded as a secondary approval under the US 30 commercial corridor overlay district, meaning the petitioner may proceed under the conditions discussed at the hearing. The commission indicated no additional conditions beyond compliance with applicable regulations and fee requirements.

The commission then moved to the next agenda item.
