Mayor Payne urged residents in a brief public announcement to check on neighbors, avoid driving when possible and move cars off roads ahead of an approaching multi-night snowstorm. “Please stay in. Please get your cars off the road when you can,” he said, and asked people who cannot move vehicles to ask a neighbor to share a driveway or parking spot for the day.
Payne said the storm would bring “a couple of nights of very cold weather, very long, drawn out snow,” and stressed public-safety precautions. He told residents to dial 911 “if there's a true emergency.”
The mayor also said the city maintains “a list of all the elderly in the community that live and are aging in place and live alone,” and that city staff will be checking on those residents. He framed the advisory as a neighbor-to-neighbor call to action: “we really hope that you take the time to do the same to your fellow neighbors. Take care, be safe, stay warm.”
No formal actions, motions or votes were recorded in the announcement. The advisory functions as a public-safety notice; residents seeking assistance were directed to contact law enforcement.
