The Mobile County Commission on May 11 approved a series of consent and action items, including a major construction contract and a change in the county's property and casualty insurance provider.
The commission awarded the Cedar Point Boat Ramp construction contract to MD Thomas Construction for a low bid of $6,507,869.05 and authorized execution of contract documents. Commissioners also approved a subscription agreement with CDWG for 151 Adobe Acrobat Pro licenses and one Adobe Creative Cloud license totaling $22,002.73 and accepted a resignation from the Mobile Museum of Art board and the appointment of Carl Harper to the remainder of that term.
The commission approved a grant agreement with the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs under the Stop Violence Against Women Act prosecution program in the amount of $32,710.84 with a required local match of $10,903.61 and authorized the commission president to execute documents. It also approved a limited right-of-entry and permitted-use lease with Viking Dredge to use county property at 1500 Burnwood Road as a staging site for shoreline restoration, pending legal review.
On add-ons, commissioners approved terminating certain existing property/casualty insurance policies effective May 12 and authorized HUB International to procure replacement coverage and for the commission president to execute necessary documents. An HUB representative, Alan, addressed the commission after the vote and thanked county leaders for the opportunity.
Votes on consent and action items were moved and seconded across the consent calendar; the meeting transcript records motions and seconds but does not include roll-call tallies for each item in the public record of this session.
