The Lakeland School Board voted to remove three budget-related discussion items from its meeting agenda and approved board calendars during the same session.
Superintendent Dr. Hall told the board she had received notice from the city of Lakeland about possible revenue implications roughly an hour and a half before the meeting and recommended postponing items tied to those revenues. "Because it impacts all of the first 3 items in the discussion action section, I'm recommending that items 1, 2, and 3 from discussion action be removed from the agenda," Dr. Hall said. A motion to amend the agenda to remove those items was made by the board member presiding and seconded by Dr. Hall; the amendment passed.
The board then approved adding the 2025–26 school board calendar to the agenda for later consideration after a motion and second. The board approved a 20-item consent agenda without pulling items for separate discussion and subsequently approved the 2026–27 board calendar as presented. Later in the meeting the board approved an amendment to the 2025–26 calendar removing the June 1, 2026 work session.
Votes were recorded vocally as "aye" or "no" without a roll-call tally in the transcript; motions were seconded and passed without recorded opposition. The board chair and the superintendent led the motions and seconds on the agenda and calendar items.
What happens next: the board left the postponed discussion items off the agenda for this meeting; any substantive action on those items will be scheduled for a future meeting after additional revenue information is reviewed.
