County health staff given conditional approval to pursue electronic message board; commissioners ask for additional quotes

Kim Robertson presented a proposal to install a community electronic message board intended to post health notices, departmental updates and other county information for residents who may not rely on social media.

"This is a great opportunity to catch those that maybe aren't so big into social media," Robertson said, describing a local vendor's product that includes a five‑year warranty and vendor training.

Robertson said she planned to fund the purchase from Health First Indiana monies that had been set aside in previous budgets. Commissioners expressed support for the idea but requested procurement documentation: at least two more vendor quotes for the sign and a third‑party electrician estimate for installation. Robertson said she would secure additional quotes and confirm any required amendment to Health First Indiana line items with the state before returning to the board.

Why it matters: Commissioners framed the sign as a public‑facing communication tool to reach residents without online access and to promote health and county programs. The board approved the motion to proceed on the condition the staff obtains the additional quotes and paperwork.
