Council awards contract for emergency generators; approves $121,000 contingency transfer

The Haslet City Council on April 6 approved a contract award to Legacy Contracting LP (doing business as Control Specialist Services LP) to supply and install emergency backup generators: a 300‑kW unit for the new fire station and a 150‑kW unit for the municipal complex.

Staff presented a total project cost of $625,820.83 (rounded to $626,000 in the council memo). The project had $505,000 budgeted; council approved a recommendation to transfer roughly $121,000 from contingency to cover the difference. Staff explained the municipal complex’s existing generator will be repurposed for a new public-works permitting office, and the fire-station generator at the existing station will be taken out of service.

Council voted unanimously to award the contract and approve the budget amendment. The motion and second were recorded and the vote passed 5–0.

Next steps: staff will finalize contract documents and coordinate relocation of existing equipment as described in the council memo.
