The Public Service, Public Utilities and Green Committee voted to place an ordinance on the consent agenda and approved authorization for the city’s director of public service to seek design and pre-construction contracts for improvements to a city storage/treatment facility.
Service Director Chris Lotto told the committee the ordinance “will allow us to enter an agreement after we publicly advertise … for design and pre-construction services.” He said the work covered by this ordinance is limited to design and pre-construction; separate legislation will be required later for construction.
Lotto described the existing basin as being constructed about 22 years ago and said it “holds 9 and a half million gallons of cso waste water.” He added that the basin “was full last week and then it was discharged back to the trunk line and sent to the plant for full treatment.” The proposed project, he said, would add primary clarification to that system.
The ordinance was moved and seconded onto the consent agenda and approved by voice vote. The transcript does not specify who moved or seconded the motions by name, nor does it provide a roll-call tally; the committee had been listed as Camer, Mkhitrich, Wilson, Balden and Lombardo as present.
The chair noted there was no further business and adjourned the committee. The council is scheduled to meet in special session at 5:00 p.m.
