The North Penn School District board approved routine personnel, contracts and student agreements and moved to nominate a representative to the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit during its Jan. 7 work session.
The board approved personnel items after a motion by Mr. Rash and second by Mr. Bell; the chair announced the motion carried. The board then approved listed contracts, with a board member calling out a $16,733 contract to provide translation services for report cards so families can read teacher comments in their languages; the service will integrate into Infinite Campus, district staff said.
The board approved student agreements as listed and on file with the office of special education after a motion by Mr. Kaiser and second by Mr. McBain.
The board filled its MCIU representative slot after a nomination by Mrs. Ramage for Christine Coin. A motion to nominate Coin was made by Mr. Chea and seconded by Mr. Bell. Miss Todd conducted a roll-call vote; members voting "yay" were Dr. Tio, Mr. Bell, Mr. Chea, Mr. Kaiser, Miss Coin, Mr. Rash, Mr. McBain and Miss Ramage. The board president announced the vote was eight to none and that the motion carries. Board members noted Coin's term begins July 1 and that the IU board will vote at its next meeting.
Christine Coin thanked the board and said she was honored to represent North Penn. The board also recognized Autism Awareness and Acceptance Month and noted community member Ben Hardramp's nonprofit work toward rehabbing housing for adults with autism (501(c)(3) application filed).
What happens next: the contracts and agreements will be processed by the administration; the MCIU nomination will be forwarded to the IU for its vote at the IU's next meeting.
