Board approves conditional use permit for dance and event hall near Clover Cemetery

The Halifax County Board of Supervisors approved a conditional use permit for Essential Code LLC, authorizing Stephanie Stevens to operate a dance and event hall in District 2 subject to 21 proposed site conditions.

Board materials show the county Planning & Zoning Commission unanimously approved the permit with one absence. The packet includes a site condition added in response to concerns about the nearby Clover Cemetery; the language in the draft conditions says: "The owner shall encourage employees and attendees to show respect to those participating in burial services at the Clover Cemetery." That provision was highlighted during the board discussion.

Vice Chair Smart moved to approve the permit and Supervisor Oaks seconded. The motion was approved by voice vote.

Supervisor comments noted the property is in District 2 and that the applicant is a local entrepreneur who could bring activity to the area. The board did not modify the 21 site conditions during the meeting. The permit will be implemented under the terms specified in the packet and any conditions of record.
