Halifax supervisors approve letter of support for Joint Commission on Recovery Housing

The Halifax County Board of Supervisors authorized the county administrator to execute a letter of support for the Joint Commission on Recovery Housing after Judge Joel Cunningham requested the endorsement. Board materials noted that a funding request is not required now and is not anticipated until fiscal year 2028.

Supervisor Oaks moved to issue the letter and Supervisor Witt seconded the motion; the board voted in favor by voice vote. Board members said the draft follows examples used by neighboring counties including Buckingham, Prince Edward, Lunenburg, Charlotte and Appomattox.

The authorization allows staff to send the signed letter consistent with letters of support from other jurisdictions; any future funding requests would return to the board for consideration.
