The Wayne City Council on April 7 approved two procurement actions: a low-bid award for mowing and landscape maintenance and a contract award for a concrete road repair project with an added contingency.
Administration recommended awarding the mowing and maintenance contract for cemeteries and various city properties to Highland Landscape and Snow Plowing Inc. (Northville, Michigan) at $58,625, to be paid from city properties, the DDA and water and sewer budgets. Council approved the recommendation subject to a mutually acceptable contract.
For the 2nd Street concrete pavement removal and replacement between eastbound Michigan Avenue and Sim Street, the low bid from Great Lakes Contracting Solutions (Brownstown Township) was $218,490. Staff requested approval of the low bid plus a 10% contingency to accommodate minor change orders and site conditions; the total authorization approved was not to exceed $240,339. Staff said the contractor was vetted and provided favorable references; testing and workmanship warranties are included in contract specifications and the project timeline anticipates starting in early May with completion by the end of July.
Council approved both awards. Staff said any change orders beyond the 10% contingency would be brought back to council for approval.
