The Upper Darby School District Board of School Directors elected Vice President Desiree Murphy Morsy as board president to serve until the district’s reorganizational meeting in December, following the resignation of former board president Neil Desire effective May 29, 2025.
Board secretary Mr. Rogers opened the poll after nominations; board members responded in turn and voiced their support for Murphy Morsy. The nomination carried by voice vote. "Thank you for putting your trust in the fact that I can lead and hopefully do a great job and represent you all," Murphy Morsy said after her election.
With the presidency filled, the board opened nominations for vice president. Two candidates were nominated: Britney Williams and Damen Warsavage. The first round of voting resulted in a tie, prompting a revote. The majority on the second round selected Britney Williams to serve as vice president through the December reorganizational period. Williams said she hoped to "do a great job" in the new role.
The election followed a brief announcement that Neil Desire had submitted his resignation on May 27, effective May 29. The board conducted the votes during its regular in-person and virtual meeting.
Votes at a glance: the meeting also recorded routine approvals by voice vote earlier in the agenda, including adoption of the posted agenda and adoption of minutes from the May 13 and May 27 meetings, and the secretary, treasurer and routine committee reports. Those motions were moved, seconded and carried without amendments.
The board adjourned after public comment and routine business. The newly elected president and vice president will serve until the board’s regular reorganizational meeting in December.
