The Wyoming City Council on April 6 unanimously approved budget amendments recognizing two recent grants: an $850,000 congressional appropriation for the City Center project and a $54,000 Brownfield Redevelopment Authority grant to fund acoustical panels and related work at Godwin Mercado.
Councilmember DeKryger described Budget Amendment No. 24 as a recognition of an $850,000 federal community project appropriation that will be applied to the City Center project. Councilmember Brethauer introduced Budget Amendment No. 23, explaining the $54,000 grant will cover acoustical panels at Godwin Mercado.
Both amendments were approved by roll call with all present council members voting yes. Staff confirmed that these amendments are bookkeeping actions to appropriate the incoming grant revenue and increase budgetary authority for the specified projects.
Council members noted appreciation for securing grant funds and described the actions as routine steps to accept and appropriate grants so the city can proceed with procurement and project work. The council did not debate specific project scopes during the vote; staff will manage project details and return with procurement and implementation timelines as needed.
The budget amendments take effect immediately for the purposes of accounting and allow staff to move forward with project contracting and implementation.
