Machesney Park liquor commission forwards two license resolutions to board

The Machesney Park Liquor Commission on April 6 voted to forward two liquor-license resolutions to the village board with positive recommendations, after staff described the applications and an applicant attorney addressed outstanding inspection items.

Deputy Clerk Sarah Cortinez told the commission that Monurithal and Alan Shibbon have applied for a Class B liquor license for 11284 Forest Hills Road (formerly FastMart 564), operating as Forest Hill Food Mart, and that the applicants had submitted required documents and paid the application fees. "Monurithal and Alan Shibbon have applied for a class B liquor license at 11284 Forest Hills Road, which is formerly FastMart 564," Cortinez said.

Attorney Jim Deertie spoke for the Forest Hill Food Mart applicants and said staff and the applicants have been in contact about a few inspection matters that remain outstanding. "I don't believe those issues will be a bar to that certificate of occupancy being ready to be issued," Deertie said, asking the commission to proceed unless members had questions.

After brief discussion and no commissioner questions, the commission voted to forward Resolution 24R26 to the April 20 board meeting with a positive recommendation.

The commission then considered Resolution 25R26, a proposed Class R license tied to the sale and continued operation of the Buffalo Wild Wings at 1513 Westlane Road. Cortinez reported that Steven Groove is in the process of purchasing the business and would operate it under an LLC identified in the record as Machznney Park Wing Company; staff recommended approval with conditions and stated there would be no discernable change in customer-facing services. With the applicant not present, commissioners moved and seconded the staff recommendation and voted to forward Resolution 25R26 to the April 20 board meeting with a positive recommendation.

The commission recorded no reports and no public comments during the meeting. A motion to adjourn carried, and the meeting was closed.
