Lisa Porras, Planning Manager for the City of San Carlos Community Development Department, announced that construction has begun on the Harrington Park refresh.
"Today marks the first day of construction for the Harrington Park refresh," Porras said, describing the project as a transformation of the park into "a vibrant people-centered destination featuring a plaza, public restrooms, public seating for relaxation and dining, and a rain garden and grove of trees." The project will change the park's layout and add new amenities intended for both everyday use and small events.
Construction work will take place Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Porras said, and the city expects the project to be complete in early 2027. She said storefront access along Laurel Street will remain open and that the city is taking steps to support downtown businesses during the construction period.
For more information, Porras directed residents to the city's downtown web page at cityofsancarlos.org/downtown and thanked the community for its patience as work proceeds. The announcement did not specify funding sources, contract awards, or an exact completion date beyond "early 2027."
