The Gibson County Drainage Board on April 7 approved a request from Gibson Water to cross the very end of a regulated drain and also approved last month’s minutes by voice vote.
Board procedure and permits were the immediate focus: a board member introduced the crossing request and staff said the applicant must sign the board’s agreement and also secure a road agreement with the highway department. “They have to do a road agreement also with the highway,” a board member noted during the discussion.
Why it matters: crossings of regulated drains can change flow patterns, require construction oversight and trigger additional county and highway approvals. Staff said the crossing is at the outer end of the regulated drain and that the applicant will follow the board’s standard protocol, including the county agreement and highway road agreement.
Board action and next steps: a board member moved to approve the crossing and another seconded; the board passed the request by voice vote. Staff said the board will require the signed agreement and that the county’s review and inspection process remains in effect for the work.
The board also approved the previous meeting’s minutes after a motion and second and a voice vote. There was no recorded roll-call tally in the transcript; the approvals were recorded as passed by voice vote.
The meeting proceeded to staff updates on several maintenance projects and a discussion about a solar project’s drainage plan changes and easement language.
