The Audubon County Board of Supervisors on May 21 approved several routine items including a hiring resolution, a liquor license renewal and multiple permits.
On a motion by Doug Sorensen seconded by Chairman Heath Hansen, the board adopted Resolution 2024-22 to hire Joseph Kennebeck as an as-needed deputy sheriff for Audubon County effective May 21, 2024. Joseph Kennebeck's wage was recorded at $25.00 per hour and the position will follow the county's union contract. Chassity Musfeldt, Audubon County Auditor Clerk, recorded the vote as "all in favor." (Vote tally based on the meeting roster listed in the minutes: 10 present, 1 absent/participating by phone.)
The board also approved a Class C liquor license renewal for Doug's Agri Hall Bar, effective June 1, 2024; approved the May 14, 2024 meeting minutes; and granted a Mid-American utility permit in Hamlin Township along 250th Street. The same meeting approved acceptance and filing of manure management plan (MMP) updates for Patrick & Joey Schon (site #64318, Audubon) and Clark Family Farms (site #65432, Dawson).
Engineer Mitch Rydl announced a pre-bid meeting for the Puck Project at 1:00 p.m. at the County Engineer's Office and said some road projects were delayed following recent storms and flooding. The meeting adjourned at 10:45 a.m.
The board did not record any dissent on the items above; motions were moved by Sorensen and seconded by Hansen unless otherwise noted. Questions about specific implementation timelines or contract details were not specified in the minutes.
