Chair opened the agenda preview and introduced an agreement (item 5d) with Alexander and Johnson for construction of the Northwest 77 Crosswalk project. Rodney, a city staff member, said the work mirrors a recent Pine Island project near Collin West and 57th Street and will include push‑button blinking lights and reflectors embedded in the pavement to warn drivers of pedestrians.
Rodney said the crosswalk is “almost just the same project that we have on Pine Island near Collin West and 57th Street.” He described safety features as “blinking lights” and “reflectors on the ground just to warn people…that somebody’s at pedestrians in the crosswalk to walk.”
On timing, Rodney estimated the job would take up to “a hundred and 80 days” depending on weather and related conditions; staff characterized this as an approximate timeframe. The Chair confirmed the agreement will appear on the commission’s Wednesday agenda for approval.
The project was presented as a routine construction agreement on the consent/regular agenda; no final vote or contract execution was recorded in the agenda preview.
The commission will consider the contract at its next public meeting; additional engineering, schedule and budget details are expected in the formal packet.
