The Peachtree City Planning Commission approved building elevation modifications for Braylen Village Shopping Center on Crosstown Drive on May 11, 2026, concluding staff's presentation and brief commissioner discussion.
Staff presenter said the proposal would repaint existing EFIS above the brick, retain the brick, add faux wood-look metal accents and new black trim, and update cornice details to create a more modern appearance. "The brick will remain the same," the planner said, and noted signage will be reviewed separately during the sign permitting process.
Charles Killebrew of Onyx Creative, the project architect, identified himself to the commission and said the staff summary accurately reflected the applicant's intent: "That was a a very good summary of the intent." Commissioners offered generally positive feedback but pressed on two recurring concerns: the increasing use of bright white paint on commercial facades and the potential for nighttime glare from lighting.
Commissioner Hamner said the commission had seen a trend toward white facades in Peachtree City and acknowledged the design looked "really good," while Commissioner Halverson warned that "bright whites are challenging to keep clean" and urged consideration of warmer white tones. Staff responded that lighting is not required to be shown on every elevation submittal but that when lighting is proposed the applicant must submit a photometric site plan for staff review to document lighting levels.
Commissioner Allen moved to accept the building elevation modifications as presented; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The commission's approval applies to the architectural updates as shown in the submitted elevations. Commissioners and staff emphasized that tenant signage will be evaluated through separate sign-permit reviews and encouraged staff to request photometric lighting information from applicants when lighting upgrades are planned.
