The Weatherford City Council unanimously adopted ordinance 02020‑23 on a 4–0 vote to voluntarily annex about 1.04 acres at 1514 East Lake Drive (Lots 108–112, Holiday Hills addition).
Staff said the owner requested annexation primarily to obtain access to city water and sewer; staff also noted a recent change in state law reduced the annexation process to a single hearing. The owner—identified in the record as Paul Allen—told the council the property had contained mobile homes that were removed prior to the annexation request and that he proposes building new single‑family brick homes on the platted lots.
“The houses we’re looking at are 1,200 to 1,500 square foot, brick homes,” Paul Allen said, adding they would include two‑car garages and would likely be among the nicer homes on that side of the street. Allen said construction could begin “probably within three months” after architectural and engineering work and that completion of individual homes would take about six to nine months. Council members asked whether Weatherford Electric would serve the project; Allen said service could depend on existing agreements and that parts of the site might be served by Tri County rather than Weatherford.
After closing the public hearing with no additional speakers, Councilman Cleveland moved to approve ordinance 02020‑23; the motion was seconded by Jeff Robinson and passed 4–0, making the annexation effective that night.
