Casey Kimberling, an Oklahoma FCCLA national officer candidate, and Gracelyn Wells, the organization’s state vice president of programs, told the Haskell County Board of Commissioners they are hosting the Great Haskell County Debate Fundraiser on Thursday, April 30 at 6:00 p.m. at the Kiamichi Technology Center.
“We are here today to invite you to a very special important community event, the Great Debate, Haskell County 2026,” Kimberling said, describing the event as open to the public with $5 admission. The students said the debate will bring together local candidates, including contenders for assistant district attorney, Haskell County Commissioner seats and county treasurer.
Wells said the evening will include a dessert auction and a barbecue dinner, and that all proceeds will help the FCCLA chapter send students to the National Leadership Conference in Washington, D.C. The presenters highlighted recent competitive success by the chapter and said the fundraiser is intended to boost civic engagement and provide a forum for county candidates.
The board thanked the students for the invitation; no follow-up action or formal county sponsorship was recorded in the meeting minutes.
